Introduction
The Ambekar Institute for Labour Studies (AILS) was established in the year 1976. The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and the Rashtriya Mill Mazdoor Sangh, (RMMS) were the pioneers of the AILS.

The AILS is registered under the Public Trust Act, 1950, The Societies Registration Act, 1860, The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976, and the Income Tax Act.

The Institute has been named after the late Shri G.D. Ambekar, the founder of the RMMS, one of the dynamic leaders within the INTUC and its international representative, a worker member of the Governing Body of International labour Organisation (ILO).

On Going Activities

The Institute is participating in a joint project on "Impact of the EU-India FTA on Human and Social Rights Issues. The other partners are The Maniben Kara Institute, Mumbai and the European Institute..
